Terms of Service

What Date is

Date helps people plan a real date instead of endless chatting. Every profile shows the date its owner actually wants. When two people like each other, they pick a plan and meet. Use it for that: meeting people genuinely and respectfully.

Who can use Date

You must be at least 18 years old. One account per person, made for yourself, with your real name and recent photos of you. No accounts for businesses, promotions or anyone else. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we delete it.

Your content

Your photos, bio and messages stay yours. By posting them you let us store them, resize and re-encode them so they load quickly and carry no hidden location data, and show them inside the app to the people the app is designed to show them to. That is the whole point of a profile. This permission covers nothing else: we never sell your content, never use it in advertising, and never show it outside the app, and it ends when you delete the content or your account. Posting also tells us the content is yours to post (your own photos, your own words) and that it breaks no law and takes nothing from anyone else. If that turns out to be untrue and someone brings a claim against us because of it, the cost of that claim is yours rather than ours.

How to behave

Be the person someone would want a second date with. No harassment, hate, threats, nudity without consent, spam, scams or asking people for money. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users: reported content is reviewed, normally within 24 hours, and accounts that break these rules can be warned, suspended or removed without notice. You can report and block anyone. Blocking makes you invisible to each other and the other person is never told. If we remove something you posted or limit your account, we tell you what it was and why, and you can reply to that message to argue with it: a person reads the reply and can put it back.

Dates happen in real life

Date suggests meeting in public places and the app includes a safety checklist before every confirmed date: public spot, your own transport there and back, and a friend who knows where you are. Use it. You alone decide whether and where to meet someone; we cannot vouch for any person on the app, verified badge or not, and we are not part of what happens when you meet.

What you send in chat

Photos, videos and GIFs only reach someone who has turned them on for you, and either of you can turn that off at any time. Text and voice notes always work. Do not share private conversations, photos or recordings from a chat without the other person’s consent.

Premium features

Every Premium feature is free for everyone while Date launches, and nothing is charged. When paid plans start, they will be optional, priced clearly, and billed through the app stores under their own payment and cancellation rules, which means refunds are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. If you live in the EU you also have fourteen days to change your mind about any purchase and get your money back, and starting to use the feature does not cost you that right.

The first 500

The first 500 people to create a Date account keep these Premium features without paying, for as long as Date offers them: seeing everyone who liked you, unlimited likes, undoing a swipe, travel mode, every filter, and browsing invisibly. Sample profiles made by us do not count. When we improve one of these features, the first 500 get the improved version too. Features added later are not included unless we say so. This is a free-features perk only. It gives no share, ownership or say in Date. The perk belongs to the account: it ends if the account is deleted or closed for breaking these terms, and it cannot be sold or transferred. The Premium screen shows whether you are one of the first 500, and your number.

What stays free for everyone

Creating your profile and date plans, swiping and liking people up to a daily limit, matching, chatting, proposing and confirming dates, the safety tools, reporting and blocking, and verification will never need a paid plan.

Leaving and losing access

You can sign out anytime, and permanently delete your account and everything attached to it from your Profile tab, or at meetondate.app/delete-account. Deleting takes your conversations with it, and a conversation has two sides, so it also disappears from the other person’s app. It is worth saying goodbye first. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or the law, and remove content that does.

Honesty about the service

Date is provided as it is today. Features can change, improve or be removed as the app grows. We work to keep it available and safe, but no app can promise zero interruptions or that every profile is genuine. We are not responsible for what other people do, for what happens at a meeting you chose to attend, or for someone turning out to be dishonest about who they are. Where we are responsible and the law allows a limit, what we owe you is capped at what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem, which today is nothing, because Date is free. That cap never applies to death or injury caused by our negligence, to anything we do fraudulently, or to any consumer right that cannot be signed away. Those stay exactly as the law leaves them.

Which law applies

These terms are governed by Portuguese law, and disputes belong to the courts of Porto, Portugal. If you live in the EU, this does not take away your right to bring a claim where you live or to use your country’s consumer dispute resolution schemes.

If part of this does not hold

If a court decides one part of these terms cannot stand, the rest of them still do. The part that failed is read as close to what it meant as the law allows, or simply left out, and nothing else here changes.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we will tell you in the app before the change applies. Questions or requests: hello@meetondate.app.
